2023-07-22
Poson Poya, a significant Buddhist festival, is celebrated with great enthusiasm in our school. As the full moon shines brightly in the night sky, our entire school community comes together to commemorate the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. The school campus is adorned with colorful decorations, depicting scenes from Lord Buddha’s life and teachings. Students, teachers, and staff members dress in traditional attire, adding to the festive ambiance. The day begins with religious observances, including chanting of Buddhist scriptures and offering alms to the monks. Throughout the day, various cultural activities take place, such as traditional dance performances, singing of devotional songs, and recitation of Buddhist verses. The spirit of Poson Poya is not only about celebration but also about fostering kindness, compassion, and understanding among all individuals. Students engage in acts of charity, such as donating essential items to those in need and organizing educational programs for underprivileged children. Poson Poya celebration in our school is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to deepen their understanding of Buddhism, embrace the teachings of Lord Buddha, and cultivate positive values that promote harmony and peace.
