First Parents Meeting for the Year 2024

2024-01-20

Mazenod College commenced the academic year 2024 with an enlightening and motivating First Parents Meeting, featuring the esteemed speaker, Mr. Mahinda Namal, a dedicated teacher from Holy Family Convent, Kalutara. The gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for parents to come together, connect with educators, and gain insights into fostering responsible parenting and character building.

Mr. Mahinda Namal, with his wealth of experience, addressed the assembly, emphasizing the pivotal role parents play in shaping the character and future of their children. He passionately spoke about the importance of being responsible parents, highlighting the profound impact parental involvement has on a child’s development.

The key themes of Mr. Namal’s address included:

1 . Leading by Example:

He stressed the significance of parents serving as role models for their children. By embodying the values and behaviors they wish to instill in their offspring, parents create a foundation for character development. Mr. Namal emphasized that children often learn through observation, making parental actions and attitudes crucial in shaping their worldview.

2 . Nurturing Character Through Challenges:

Mr. Namal encouraged parents to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. He spoke of the importance of allowing children to face and overcome obstacles, fostering resilience and adaptability. By providing a supportive environment while allowing space for independent problem-solving, parents contribute to the development of strong and well-rounded individuals.

3 . Communication and Understanding:

Effective communication emerged as a central theme in Mr. Namal’s discourse. He underscored the need for open and empathetic communication between parents and children. By fostering an environment where children feel heard and understood, parents contribute to the emotional well-being and overall development of their wards.

The First Parents Meeting of 2024 not only offered valuable insights from Mr. Mahinda Namal but also provided a platform for parents to engage in discussions, share experiences, and strengthen the bond between the school and home environments. The event set a positive tone for the academic year, reinforcing the collaborative effort required to nurture well-rounded and responsible individuals at Mazenod College.
